Weiser’s historic homes, some going back to the Victorian era, are a big part of the town’s character, and they come with heating systems that have been updated many times over the decades. Expect a mix of gas furnaces, electric baseboard, boilers, heat pumps and stoves, often in the same neighborhood.
Weiser sits farther up the river from the valley’s center, and winter can feel it. When a cold snap settles in, an aging furnace or heat pump is tested hard, and a no-heat call can’t wait. If your heat goes out in freezing weather, call. Never heat the house with an oven, grill or camp stove.
Idaho Power serves the area with electricity. Natural gas is available in town; outlying homes often rely on propane, electric heat or wood.
Weiser questions
Heating and air questions from Weiser.
Do you serve Weiser?
Yes. Weiser is on Near Me Heating and Air’s published service area, along with Payette, Fruitland and the rest of the western Treasure Valley. Call (208) 501-5998.
My furnace stopped and it’s below freezing. What should I do while I wait?
Call for service first. Check that the thermostat has power and is set to heat, and that the filter isn’t clogged. Keep interior doors open and let faucets on outside walls drip if pipes could freeze. Use space heaters only plugged directly into a wall outlet and kept three feet from anything that burns. Never use an oven, grill or camp stove for heat.
Can an old Weiser house get a heat pump?
Usually. Older houses often benefit most, but sizing has to account for the house’s real insulation and windows, and cold-climate models are the right choice this far up the valley. A ducted system needs good ducts; otherwise ductless heads may work better.
What customers say
In July, Near Me Heating and Air responded to my call quickly and diagnosed my Air conditioner that very day. Daniel kept me updated on the parts arrival and communicated with me often and went the extra mile. I highly recommend Near Me Heating and Air and have already recommended them.
